Good value for my money

I was looking for a pre-configured VPN router and Flashrouters popped up. I compared a few options, checking out their bundles and current sales. I ended up getting a Linksys WRT3200ACM with Tomato firmware. The price was competitive, especially considering the firmware was already installed. It felt like a solid investment to save time and hassle. The setup was pretty straightforward once it arrived. Worth the purchase for the convenience.

Consistent quality, reliable service

I've bought several routers from Flashrouters over the years, and my recent purchase of the Asus RT-AX86U was just as smooth as always. The pre-configured DD-WRT setup arrived ready to go, like my previous Netgear Nighthawk R7000 did. Shipping took about 5 days to reach me in California, which is typical for them. They're consistently good, which is why I keep coming back for my network upgrades. Never had an issue that their support couldn't quickly help with.

Decent router, easy setup

Got an Asus RT-AX88U from them. It came with the custom firmware installed which was nice, saved me some headaches. Shipping took a week to get to my place in Texas, which was fine, not super fast but not slow either. The router itself is pretty good, seems to handle all my devices without a hiccup. Overall, it was an okay experience, no major complaints or anything.

My network is so fast now!

Oh my goodness, I just got the Netgear RAX120 with DD-WRT and it's incredible! My old router was such a drag, but this one is lightning quick. I ordered it for my home office setup and the difference is night and day. Everything loaded so fast, and the VPN compatibility is exactly what I needed. I'm telling all my friends who complain about their slow internet; they need to check out Flashrouters! I'm definitely going to shop here again when I need another upgrade.

Trying to decide between a router from Flashrouters or Sabai Technology. Any thoughts on which is better, especially for a total VPN noob like me?

T Tom 2 months ago

Flashrouters is solid, especially if you want a lot of options for VPNs. Their setup guides are pretty good. I haven't tried Sabai though.

I went with Flashrouters because they had more router choices. Sabai felt a bit more limited in hardware, from what I saw. The support from Flashrouters was helpful when I had a dumb question about OpenVPN vs WireGuard.

i'm looking at the Netgear Nighthawk and it says it's pre-configured. Does that mean the VPN subscription is included, or do I still need to get one myself?

J Jared Kim 3 months ago

Nah, the VPN subscription is separate. They just set up the router so it's ready to use with your VPN service.

You gotta get your own VPN sub. They flash the firmware so it's compatible with like, tons of VPN providers, but the actual service is on you. Makes sense, you wouldn't want them picking your VPN for you anyway.

Anyone successfully returned one of these if it didn't work out? Just wondering what their return policy is like for the flashed routers.

L Laura Kaur 2 months ago

Yeah, I returned one that was overkill for my small apartment. It was pretty straightforward, just follow their instructions on the site.

I heard if it's flashed hardware there might be a restocking fee or something? Not 100% sure, but probably worth checking their official policy on that. For unopened stuff it's usually easier.

Thinking of grabbing one of these for the house. Does Flashrouters ship pretty quick? Like, if I ordered one to Miami, would it get here in a few days?

J Jared G. 3 months ago

Mine came pretty fast to California, like 3-4 days. I think they ship from the East Coast so Miami might even be quicker.

Yeah, I got my Nighthawk from them. It was like 5 days total to Texas with standard shipping. Not Amazon Prime fast, but decent.

Hey, does anyone know if they do a military discount? My buddy was asking about it for a new router.

G Greg Walsh 2 months ago

Pretty sure they do, I saw it mentioned somewhere when I was looking around their site last month.

Yeah, they definitely have one. My husband used it for his router a while back. You might need to verify or something, but it's there.
